Home About Us Jan, John & Steve Smith took over the kennels and cattery in 1998. Mel has worked here fulltime since 1999 with Chris, Alice, Andy, Amy & Leanne helping us at weekends and during busy periods. We also usually have some students from Writtle College working under supervision to complete their practical training for diplomas and NVQs etc. in small animal care. We are a medium sized establishment licensed by Maldon District Council to board up to 54 dogs and 40 cats. The kennels were established in about 1964 and we are the third owners. We have now completely reconditioned or replaced the animal accommodation but ongoing repairs, redecorations and improvements are a constant feature of running a kennels and cattery. This is a “lifestyle business” and whilst it can be very hard work it is still a great pleasure to spend time with our guests many of whom we have got to know very well over the years.
